Mr C.J. de Villiers donated a nearly complete skeleton of the Karoo fossil reptile Endothiodon bathystoma to the South African Museum, Cape Town, in 1903. The species had been described by R. Owen* in 1876, and belongs to the Order Anomodontida of the Class Synapsida. The structure and affinities of the Endothiodont reptiles were described by R. Broom* in 1905.
