Miss S. Viljoen was appointed (perhaps re-appointed) as a clerk in the Transvaal Museum on 1 September 1900, shortly after the occupation of Pretoria by British forces during the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902). She held this position until 1906/7, when she became the assistant in the museum's Entomology Department, under Mr. C.J. Swierstra*. That same year she presented Coleoptera (beetles) to the museum from Greylingspost, some distance west of Pretoria. She still occupied her new post in 1908.
