Herman, Mr Gerard Henry (insect collection)

Gerard Henry Herman studied at the South African College, Cape Town, from 1887 to 1890 but does not seem to have matriculated. He joined the civil service of the Cape Colony in January 1893 as a fifth clerk, rising gradually through the ranks of the Public Works Department to clerk in 1905, but was pensioned off on 1 January 1909.

During 1906 G.H. Herman, presumably him, accompanied Robert M. Lightfoot* of the South Africam Museum to Saldanha Bay where they collected over 400 insects for the museum.
