Leal, Dr Jose Rodriguez Amaral (veterinary science)

Jose Rodriguez. Amaral (or Amalal) Leal, Doctor of Medicine (MD), resided in Lourenco Marques (now Maputo), Mozambique, early in the twentieth century. In 1903 he attended the Conference on diseases of cattle and other animals in South Africa, held in Bloemfontein from 3 to 5 December, as representative of Portuguese East Africa (now Mozambique). The next year he again represented that territory at the Inter-Colonial Veterinary Conference on animal diseases in South Africa, held in Cape Town during May.

Dr Leal was listed as a medical practitioner in Maputo until at least 1916. He was a member of the Royal Society of South Africa by 1910, but no longer a member by 1917.
