Kincaid, Mr Scott (shell collection)

Born: 1871, Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom.
Died: 19 October 1925, Cape Town, South Africa.
Active in: SA.

Scott Kincaid, bookkeeper and shell collector, resided in Grahamstown, where he worked for a building firm. He collected non-marine molluscs, mainly in the Albany district, and exchanged information and specimens with H.C. Burnup* of Pietermaritzburg. After his death in 1925 his collection was sold. The marine mollusc Columbella kincaidi and the non-marine species Trachycystis kincaidi were named after him.
