B.E. Jupp, who lived in Grahamstown during the eighteen-nineties, donated a number of well identified birds' nests to the Albany Museum in 1892. Two years later he made a similar donation, comprising 20 different nests, to the Port Elizabeth Museum. In 1898 he gave a collection of birds' eggs from around Grahamstown to the Albany Museum, followed the next year by a juvenile bird in the nest of foster parents.
